DareClock · Optivio Automation · Last updated: 27 October 2026

DareClock ("the app") is an alarm clock that asks you to complete a short mission to turn the alarm off. This policy explains what information the app uses and why. In short: your alarms, history and camera images stay on your phone; only a small anonymous install report is sent to us (see below).

Information stored on your device

Camera

Exercise and photo missions use your camera. The images are analysed on your device in real time (Google ML Kit, on-device models) to count reps or recognise objects. Camera frames and photos are not saved, uploaded or shared.

Microphone

The tongue-twister mission uses your phone's speech recognition service to check what you said. Depending on your device settings, that service (for example Google's) may process the audio. DareClock does not record or store audio.

Motion sensors

Step and shake missions read your phone's step and motion sensors while the mission is open. The readings are not stored or sent anywhere.

Sleep data (Health Connect)

If you allow it, DareClock reads your sleep sessions (start and end times) from Health Connect to show your recent nights in the app. This data is only displayed on your device. It is not saved by DareClock, uploaded, shared, sold or used for advertising. You can remove this access at any time in Health Connect settings.

DareClock's use of information received from Health Connect adheres to the Health Connect Permissions policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Sleep tracking with your phone (optional)

If you turn on "Track with this phone" and allow the Physical activity permission, DareClock uses Google Play services' sleep detection, which works out from your phone's motion and light sensors when you fell asleep and woke up. DareClock receives only those start and end times and keeps the last 60 days on your device to show your nights. They are not uploaded, shared, sold or used for advertising. You can turn this off at any time in the app's Sleep screen.

App Blocking (optional)

If you turn on App Blocking, you give DareClock "Usage access" and "Display over other apps" in Android settings. During your bedtime window the app checks which app is open so it can cover distracting apps with a bedtime screen. This check happens on your device only. DareClock does not save, upload or share which apps you use. The list of apps you keep allowed is stored on your phone. You can turn App Blocking off, or remove these permissions, at any time.

Anonymous usage and install information

Each time you open the app, it sends a small report to our own server (hosted on Supabase) so we can count installs and active devices and send you notifications. The report contains: a random install ID generated by the app (not your Android ID, advertising ID, name or email), the app version, your phone's time zone and language setting, whether Premium is active (and, for a reviewer access code, when it ends) and, if notifications are enabled, your push notification token. It does not contain your alarms, history, photos, audio, sleep data or the apps you use. We use it for aggregate statistics, to send notifications you may receive, and to fix problems. It is not sold, shared with advertisers or used for advertising. It is sent over HTTPS and is not linked to your name or email.

Purchases

Subscriptions are processed by Google Play. We receive confirmation of your subscription status, not your payment details. We use RevenueCat, a subscription management service, to keep a record of purchases for our sales reports. RevenueCat receives a random anonymous app user ID and your purchase records (product, dates, price and store transaction ID). It does not receive your name, email or payment details. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.

What we don't do

Children

DareClock is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your choices

You can deny camera, microphone, physical activity, Health Connect or usage access at any time in Android settings. You can delete all app data by uninstalling the app or clearing its storage. To delete the anonymous install record on our server or the purchase records kept by RevenueCat, see how to request deletion.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app.
